By attending a seminar and receiving a SMSS manual, the parents of today's student-athletes receive a detailed plan of what to do in their quest for the best college choice for their child. The manual contains examples of letters to be sent and when to send these letters. It also has examples and suggestions for the parents to use to market their student-athlete. After all, who can better show off a student-athlete's talents than a parent! The manual also gives some of the rules and requirements that must be adhered to in order to participate in NCAA athletics. The manual, though informative, is not self-explanatory. Real life stories and explanations are shared at the seminar. These stories and the reasons behind each step of the manual are invaluable to the whole college recruiting process. Experience has shown it is most effective to obtain a manual and attend a seminar.
